Home Energy Conservation Photo Album: West Henrietta Homeowner Upgrading to Make More Energy Efficient
This West Henrietta homeower was concerned with making his home more energy efficient and finishing his basement to make it a livable place. He also had comfort issues in the kitchen and family room due to the floors and walls always being cold. After we came out and did a full home energy evaluation we found issues with the current insulation and some areas that had no insulation at all. We also found that there were areas that air sealing needed to be done to seal off the house from the outside.
Gaps in Insulation Around Flue Pipes
The insulation isn't tight around the flue pipe, allowing air to leak out instead making the air flow not very efficient.
Poor Attic insulation
The attic is above the family room and has very poor insulation, this was causing a lot of extra air to be released out of the home instead of staying inside and properly warming the family room.
Cracks in floor
The cracks and gaps in the floor cause excess air to flow out, which was causing the kitchen and family room floor to be very cold.
