This customer was losing a lot of heat through the poorly insulated attic but was afraid that if we insulated it correctly she would no longer have a storage space. We installed an insulated decking for storage near the hatch and built a retaining wall to install further insulation to keep the air in the house contained without losing the homeowners storage space.
We had to install foam board over this stairway to complete the thermal barrier and install cellulose in the attic.
This historic home in Rochester, NY had very little insulation in the attic. The house was cold and drafty in the winter. In the first photo, you can see the exposed joists in the slope of the raised ceiling. Almost no insulation at all was on the top.
We sealed up the holes in the attic floor, and added a thick layer of TruSoft blown cellulose insulation to both the sloped and the flat ceilings.
We blew a thick layer of clean, safe, TruSoft blown cellulose insulation on top of the thin layer of compressed fiberglass in the attic of this historic Rochester home.
This home in Penfield had old fiber glass insulation in the attic that was ripped and falling apart. The fiber glass wasn't helping to keep air inside and was adding extra expense to the customers utility bills. We took out the old insulation and added cellulose and air sealing to help make this home more comfortable and save this homeowner money.
